Some Breast Cancer Facts

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide (25%) and the most common cause of death – 14%. 36% of women living with cancer are breast cancer patients. Certainly, the highest incidence of breast cancer is recorded in industrialized countries (Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain). On the other hand, the lowest incidence occurs in the countries of Africa and Southeast Asia. A factor that significantly increases the risk of developing breast cancer is the presence of a mutation in the BRCA1 gene or the BRCA2 gene. Furthermore, the incidence of breast cancer increases with age. That means, in women under 45, cancer is rare, and most cases occur in women over 50.
